Hello! My name is Tom Bunker. I am a two time long hauler, first from April till August and then from late Sept till… current. Fortunately, I am getting close to being recovered a second time. I strongly believe that triggering autophagy has been the key to my recoveries. Coronaviruses, co-opt our cellular machinery to upregulate cell metabolism so they can crank out the maximum number of virions. By inhibiting the master regulator of cell metabolism, mTOR1, via fasting or via Quercitin + Resveratrol, the brakes are put on cell metabolism and autophagy is triggered. That is bad news for SARS-CoV-2. Viral proteins are then selectively degraded. Also viral fragments are then presented for immune surveillance on the surface of our infected cells. It is like shining a spotlight into the dark places where the virus has been hiding.

I have a B.S. in Cellular Biology and have my Ph.D. from the University of Davis, California in Immunology. I have been out of scientific research for over two decades, but my training has been very helpful to connect the dots in the scientific literature, my own personal experiences, and the shared experiences of hundreds of covid long haulers. I increasing confident that I have figured out a way to help our bodies fight what increasingly appears to be a slow-burning, persistent viral infection.

On Dec 4th 2020, I created a public Facebook group to gather like-minded people interested in triggering autophagy to give them an edge over this sneaky SARS-CoV-2 virus in this incredible battle to regain our healthy lives. The initial membership was just 25 people. Two months later the Recover from Long Covid group has grown to over 1500 members and many are experiencing autophagy! As of June 2022 the group has over 12,400 members.
